I've never done a show before - do I need to be an experienced dancer/singer/performer to audition?
You do not need ANY experience to audition with us, whether you've never performed with BPA or if you've never done a show anywhere! We believe that everyone has something important to offer, and we absolutely love to encourage and grow the confidence of brand new performers AND those with experience. Come one, come all!
What do I need to prepare for auditions?
We have our audition instructions listed at the time of sign-ups for both in-person and video auditions. Auditions usually include a Song (prepared in advance by you!) and a Dance (taught that day, no prep needed). If we are doing a heavy acting show, we may occasionally include a monologue or script readings.
I am not a dancer - so will I not get cast?
You don't have to be a great dancer to be in a musical! We will have a dance video available for those who are stressed about dancing -- our expectations are that we are community members from many walks of life coming together to tell a story! Therefore, these are VERY low-stakes dance auditions. We like to see how you move in space and how well you can learn and perform, even if you don't nail every move!
What if I can't make the audition times listed?
We have the option to submit a VIDEO AUDITION -- Videos can be submitted directly in the audition form! Instructions are detailed in the form.
WHAT AGE do I/does my child need to be to audition for Bunce Performing Arts?
For our season productions, we take actors from age 8-100+! If a younger person wishes to audition (a 6 or 7 year old, for example), they are welcome to do so -- however, we may ask that a parent or guardian present with them at rehearsals, so parents should be prepared to either be at rehearsal OR audition for the show too!
My whole family wants to audition -- will we get cast together?
Bunce Performing Arts is BUILT on family! We do our best to keep families together -- if this is a request you have to perform with your whole family, OR if you don't mind being separated, feel free to make a note in your audition form!
What is the time commitment for the show?
Actors should expect to be called around 3-4 times a week during rehearsals, at least 5 nights a week the weeks leading up to the show, and finish when the show opens (usually a period of ~8 weeks). Rehearsals may be scheduled Monday-Friday evenings after 6pm, OR Saturday mornings before 1pm. Not all cast members will be needed at every rehearsal, and we take conflicts into account--you're allowed to have a life! Check out our rehearsal calendar for our current production auditions for a comprehensive list of rehearsal dates we may utilize!
I am going on vacation during the rehearsal process. Will that disqualify me from the show?
Provided you are not missing a performance, no! This is not a hindrance and you should still audition! Conflicts may be taken into account when deciding on your role--that said, we are a community theatre who supports people who have a life. So if you have vacation, work conflicts, or other livelihoods, we encourage you to still find the joy of theatre with Bunce Performing Arts. NOTE: we will NOT rehearse on most federal holidays. We hope to have all cast conflicts finalized by the first rehearsal for planning purposes!

We are always looking for CREW Volunteers for our productions!
Currently Seeking Crew members for LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL.
--
TWO CREW TYPES AVAILABLE
>>RUN CREW:
You're the crew that make our performances possible! You'll work with our Stage Manager (SM) and Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) during tech week and performances to make the backstage magic happen. This means moving and organizing props, set, costumes, and technical equipment before, during, and after shows according to the runsheet provided by the SM and ASM. No experience necessary - this is a great way to get involved in all the show action, and our team will show you the ropes!
Required Schedule: Run crew involves three key phases: (1) Tech week, (2) performances, and (3) strike.
TECH
Nov 29-Dec 4
PERFORMANCES
Dec 5-14
STRIKE
Dec 14 (evening)
Schedule conflicts? Let us know in the form! We may still take you even if you have conflicts!
>>WORK DAY VOLUNTEER
In every Bunce production, we rely on the help of our cast, crew, and volunteers to create or source every part of our set and props. As a work day volunteer, you'll join us on Saturday mornings in bringing the show to life through set and props creation, led by one of our production team members. Our work day needs vary from week to week, ranging from crafty props creation, to flyer delivery, to power tool set builds, to just about everything else! No experience necessary - this is another great way to get involved in the behind-the-scenes action!
Want to help out in other ways? We also need help during performances! Stay tuned for an usher sign-up.
Schedule: Work days happen primarily on Saturday mornings in OCTOBER and NOVEMBER, with tech setup day being NOVEMBER 29. By adding your info in the form, you'll have the option to volunteer at as many or as few of these days as you'd like.
