Step into the African savanna this fall with Disney’s The Lion King KIDS! This beloved musical brings the epic journey of Simba, Rafiki, and an unforgettable cast of characters to life in a vibrant, one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. From Pride Rock to the jungle and back again, students will explore themes of courage, friendship, and identity in this inspiring coming-of-age tale.
Featuring classic songs from the Broadway and animated film, including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata,” this production is perfect for students who love to sing, dance, and act—or who simply want to be part of something magical. Whether you're a seasoned performer or trying theater for the first time, The Lion King KIDS is a roaring good time for everyone!
All students receive a role in the show—no experience necessary!
Limited to 50 participants – Registration is required.
Auditions for lead roles will take place on the first day.
Costumes provided – students bring their own base layer.
Led by trained theater professionals, students will build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills in a fun, supportive environment.
The BEAT for middle school students is offered through the District 279 Community Education Department and is for students entering grades 6 through 9. Registration is limited to 50 students - all students must be pre-registered before the first rehearsal. It will take place at Maple Grove Middle School where students will rehearse and perform on a real stage!
Rehearsals will be run by experienced theater professionals who focus on fun while teaching songs, choreography and dialog. All students receive a part in the musical.
Trained theater staff will lead middle school students through a musical theater experience that promotes problem solving skills, working cooperatively, leadership and self-confidence.
Gabrielle Row is a devoted theater artist and educator, passionate about inspiring creativity and fostering growth through the performing arts. With a career deeply rooted in the vibrant Twin Cities theater community, Gabrielle has collaborated with organizations such as Black Dirt Theater, Expressions Theater, The Forge Series, and Character Kids Theater Classes. Her dedication to arts education extends to her work with schools like St. Croix Central, Southwest Christian High School, and the University of Minnesota's BFA Acting Program.
An alumna of the University of Northwestern, Gabrielle honed her craft as an actor, stage manager, and director. Her commitment to storytelling and education shines through in every project she undertakes, as she seeks to create inclusive spaces where performers of all ages can explore and grow.
When she’s not busy bringing stories to life on stage, Gabrielle enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Josh Row, or engaging in friendly pickleball matches with friends. Her passion for theater, education, and community continues to shape her journey as a leader and mentor in the arts.
Dylan Sauder first became involved with Bunce Performing Arts in 2019, when he played Jacob Marley in BPA’s production of A Christmas Carol: The Musical. Since that time, he has music directed many elementary theater productions and taught several musical theater camps through the BEAT (Bunce Educational Adventure Theater) at a variety of local schools, performed the role of Jimmy Ray Dobb’s in Bright Star, and music directed the 2023 summer production, Tuck Everlasting, and the 2024 summer production, The Little Mermaid. He looks forward to continuing to music direct for the BEAT.
Dylan graduated in 2019 with a degree in Vocal Music Education from the University of Northwestern - St. Paul. He teaches elementary and middle school choir and voice lessons throughout the Twin Cities and is passionate about helping students and performers of all ages become more confident as they grow in their musical and performance abilities. In addition to performing in Bunce productions, Dylan sings frequently at weddings and funerals and has worked with LaMarca Theatre and Lyric Arts.
